Mobile homes are usually made with inexpensive materials. The plumbing fixtures in most mobile homes consist of plastic fixtures with plastic water lines. The shower faucet is no exception. Removing a shower faucet in a mobile home to replace it with an upgrade is a straightforward process. The shower faucet is similar to the sink faucets as they are usually one-piece units. The key to removing the shower faucet is finding the access panel to the plumbing lines behind the wall.
Instructions
1. Locate the access panel on the other side of the wall that the shower faucet mounts on. The access panel may be in the linen closet, adjacent room or behind the laundry units.
2. Open the access panel to access the shut-off valves and mounting nuts for the shower faucet. Some access panels simply slide up while others may have screws requiring removal with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
3. Turn off the hot and cold water supply to the shower faucet. The shut-off valves are usually on the plumbing lines coming from the floor. Go to the shower/tub and open up both faucet handles to release any residual water.
4. Loosen the nuts securing the water supply lines to the faucet with an adjustable wrench. Pull the water supply lines away from the faucet.
5. Turn the plastic nuts securing the shower faucet to the wall counterclockwise with your hands. If necessary, use a pair of slip-joint pliers to start turning the nuts if they are too tight. Go to the tub and pull the shower faucet out of the wall.
