Lp To Natural Gas Conversion Fo Charmglow Ventless Heater

A friend has a charmglow ventless heater he wants to sell, but it's set up for propane, and I need to convert it to natural gas. The problem is we can't find any info about it anywhere. Anything would be helpful. Read some of the other posts about stove and oven conversions, and seems pretty straight forward, just want to make sure I don't have big problems with carbon monoxide or any other issues. Also he does not have any manuals or anything with it.

Do you have a model number of the heater?

The risks of unvented equipment are not worth it, in my opinion.

Here's what I have
Serial number: cg05062564
Model number: cgl250te-c
25,000 btu/hr
Manifold pressure: 8.0 w.c.
Max inlet pressure: 14.0 w.c.
Min inlet pressure: 11.0 w.c.
Hope this helps finding some info for me-thank you

It's unwise for DIYers to screw around with unvented equipment. It can kill or severely injure people. Its quite likely that you wont recognize a hazard that exists or that your create by making changes.

The molecular formula for natural gas is CH4 and propane is C3H8 (C-carbon, H-hydrogen). The propane molecule is much larger. In order to convert from one to another usually requires changing an orifice or valve in order to get the proper fuel flow. I would hire a qualified professional to do the conversion.

Did anyone ever get to the point of where a conversion kit can be purchased?

Changing an orifice is quite straight forward as you assume but what is not is the legalities of doing so.
Ventless heaters as potentially unsafe as they are out of the box would need to have an approved kit from the manufacturer if available and be installed according to the instructions..

Contact Charmglow if they make a kit it will come with directions but you should still let a expert do it. It may cost more for the kit than the heater is worth though. New pilot assembly or orifice kit, New valve or kit and new burner becouse all the holes in the LP unit will not work with Natural gas. Good Luck.
