Klimaire mini split AC/Heat Pump controlling issue in Heating Mode
Last week my new KSIL018-H219 was installed. This unit is 18,000 BTU/SEER 19 and has the DC inverter to limit power to the compressor as load decreases. I chose the HEAT mode and set the space temp to 70. Room temp was at 65 upon starting. Unit ramped up and quickly delivered very warm air. As set point was approached, the unit ramped down to idle, finally shutting off completely. I was delighted until 5 mins later the unit started again and ran a few minutes until shut off. This continued most of the day and room got several degrees over 70 to 73 until I lowered the temp to 65. Unit still continued to cycle now every 5-10 minutes and run for a few minutes with indoor temp well above the set point. I then lowered the temp to 62 in Heat mode and no change. Unit still cycled on/off (4-5 min on and 4-5 min off) with room temp at 73. Next day I checked around indoor unit for stray drafts of air leakage that might affect the temp sensor. Nothing but warm air around indoor unit. The system seem to control well in Cooling mode. The Klimaire service rep suggested I power the system off for 30 min and reset the remote control. There was no change to the operation after power up. I am wondering if anyone else had/has a similar problem with a Klimaire unit or knows stop the on/off cycling . As it is now, I'm sure the compressor will wearout quickly with the constant on/off in Heat mode. I have the same problem with a KSIL009-H216 (same unit except 9K BTUH), the unit heats the room to 68 - 70 degrees even though the temp is set to 62, the lowest it will go. I don't recall how it behaved in cooling mode. My mini split is a different brand . Only HP issue I have is mostly due to the less than optimal location I had to put the inside unit . With mine , it seems the air stratifies and hangs around the indoor unit , causeing it to shut off before the whole room is warm . I have found that if I turn on the ceiling fan , in reverse , on low , the mini split works fine . Read your instruction manual be sure the system is set up properly . This may sound crazy , but since these units were all / mostly made overseas , it may default to degrees C instead of F ? God bless Wyr
