4 x 6 metal roll up door
I have been trying to locate a manufacture/distributor of a 4 x 6 metal rollup door for my garage. I have been unsucessiful locally in my area. Any input or advise would be appreciated. Thank you Mike I beleive what you are looking for is called a rolling steel door. They have an internal spring and wind up around a drum above the header. They a commonly used in commercial applications, so I would be looking in the yellow pages for your area. Good luck Jack 4X6?? I understand the 4, maybe, but why 6?? Unless you're extremely short or just enjoy bumping yor head, 6 just makes no sense. Roll ups can get expensive fast. I would check with self storage dealers. The more units they have the bettor are your chances they will have some in stock for replacemant or will be ordering some. Roll ups for the size you are wanting are targeted for storage units and are made of a thinner gauge steel. Most door companys will have to order a heavier ga. If you dont have any luck with the storage places reply to your post and I will put you in touch with some manufactures and you can check for dealers in your area. Let me ask you though do you want a roll up because youre garage is finished and you dont want a track running back or is youre head room restricted? are you trying to save money by going with a roll up? I once cut a hole in the sheet rock the width of the door and ran the track up in the rafters so the door would pass over the sheet rock and be in the ceiling when open. I used trim around the opening and most people never noticed what happend(freind of mine). If you are trying to go the save money route for a golf cart door, you can find damaged panels at a local dealer and salvage the interior end pieces you need to cut the door down to size, work over the outside door, paint it, throw a bathroom scale under it to see how much it weighs. buy some extension springs for about $20 bucks and voila you have a rollup! I used to have a pile of removed doors that I let anyone take anything since it was cheaper than loading doors and tracks and hauling to the dump. I don't know where you live, but Menards carry them in stock, and so does UBC They are becomming very popular. Run about $400 and easy to install. UBC just got a web site. don't know what it is but http://www.ubc.com may be it. Home Depot will probably be carrying them soon. Mike: I see you live in NW Arizona. Are you near Lake Havasau.
