Mr. Coffee Maker NLX33

Can someone give me a basic understanding of how they work. I was going through the cleaning cycle - seemed OK. Next morning it programmed cycled as normal but the coffee was luke warm. Now the unit does not cycle at all. The electronics seem OK , Clock, indicators react properly to buttons that are pressed. When I select the one button the indicator lights, a relay clicks - but nothing else happens. The heating element stays cold. I took the bottom off and I see some sort of SEFUSE that runs between the wires for the heating element. There also seems to be two unmarked metalic cylindrical pieces with wires at each end that mount with clips to the heating element. Just need to get an idea of what kind of voltages I should be looking for when the relay clicks. If anyone knows obtain general schematics please point me in the right direction. Thanks Any repairs should be done by a local Sunbeam or Mr. Coffee Repair Center. Sunbeam owns Mr. Coffee. Lists are available for your area, by calling Replacement Parts - Decanters - call 1-800-672-6833 if you can't find one in a local store. (1-800-MR COFFEE). Website - WWW.mrcoffee.com A fairly comprehensive Manual comes with the Mr. Coffee NLX33 having full instructions for setting it up, maintaining it (cleaning) and with the WARNINGS that are necessary with any appliance that involves water, electricity and heat. BE SURE TO READ HEED THE WARNINGS. Clean the mineral deposits from your coffeemaker every 80 brew cycles if you have soft water and every 40 cycles if yours is hard water. About once a month is good for a coffee maker. Pour four cups of undiluted white vinegar in the water reservoir. Place a paper filter into the removable filter basket, close the lid. Go through a brew cycle with decanter in place. Turn the coffeemaker OFF after THREE cups of vinegar have entered the decanter. Let set 30 minutes. Turn machine on and let rest of vinegard run through. Discard filter and vinegar solution, rinse. A manual for your product can be found at http://www.mrcoffee.com/manuals/nlx33.pdf mickyhunt, Before you spend a much time determining the problem with the coffeemaker, be aware that Mr. Coffee will not sell internal parts to the public. Mr. Coffee will only sell parts to Authorized Service Centers, and the service center will have to install the parts. That's why twelvepole is recommending you find a local service center. Best of luck. Buy a new coffee maker. It's probably gonna cost near as much to get it fixed. coffee makers vcr's DVD players they are all throw away items fred I fail to see how referring good questioners to factory repair centers, thoroughly throwing up discouraging repair CAUTIONS WARNINGS, or telling us to buy new products have any place on a do-it-yourself website. mickyhunt received no encouragement; however, he got lotsa ridicule that he might be too stupid to work on his coffee maker, not being an Authorized Repair Center, and don't you bet he already knew that he could Buy a new coffee maker. Some of our answers have to do with safety. Some of us do work for appliance repair facilities and have the knowledge to repair the items. We have been TRAINED for several months or even YEARS to gain this knowledge. We would be doing a great disservice to our members if we were to explain to a novice with NO TRAINING repair these items. Injury, death and or loss of property could result. Some things are meant to be thrown away by the manufacturers by the low price and cheaper way of making them. These are not meant to be worked on or even repaired. A lot of appliance repair places repair things by taking old parts from old non working units to install into newer possible repairable units. Ever go to a TV repair or appliance repair store? This is what a lot of them do. This way they can make a few more bucks off some high ticket items. Its not the members common sense we are judging....... Its our own! We do not as a rule try to or even intend to ridicule anyone. We are here to help and safety is part of that help. I see Mickey Hunt never did get an answer to help him with his NLX33 Mr Coffee machine. I received one for a gift and have enjoyed it for several months and all of a sudden it did the same thing that Mickey Hunt's did, it just didn't heat up and brew even thought every thing else seemed to be operating. I called the Service number 1-800-672-6833 and talked to a REAL human being and they are sending me a new one to replace this one that won't work. I didn't expect that but I'm totally happy about that because I really like the machine. I hope I don't have problems with the new one. You might try asking the service people for advice before gettting too frustrated, they were really helpful. Mike315, I will repeat the above. But first, since the consumer cannot get parts directly I'll say take it apart to see what you may find. That's about all the DIYer is able to do. If a connection is loose, you may be able to solder it. But. repeating, a 40 or 50 buck machine is not worth taking to a repair center to have fixed - check their repair service fees. They are THROW-AWAY items - period. Karen was apparently lucky and the unit was still within warranty, usually 60 to 90 days. Discouraging or not, that's the way it is. fred I'm not sure which model Mr Coffee coffee maker I have, but I've gotten two replacements for the unit. It will work for a few months and then just dies. I was surprised when customer service said no problem and sent a new one with hardly any questions asked. When the new one did the same thing, I called customer service and they sent a second new one. This second new one has lasted about 3 months now which is about how long the other two lasted. My advice, call Mr Coffee Customer Service and see if they can help you. why have a diy fourm if you are not going to help them who ask for help. tell him to ohm things out , or what might be a problem .he must be smart enough, he asked for help. it might be nothing more that a thermal fuse , made to go after so long just so u buy another . i am having a simular problem, a $1.25 thermal fuse verses a $40.00 replacement tea pot. i see why they dont want to give u the info .some people might want to go back to the basics and read the fourms mission statement!!!!!!!
