Help with Aprilaire 440 Humidifier
I have an Aprilaire 440 Humidifier that I am trying to get operational. I was not getting any water to the water tray at the top of the unit. I have pulled the inline filter and washed it out and also pulled the blue orifice and cleaned it. I also had a problem with the saddle valve and have replaced that. When my furnace blower is running and I turn the humidistat, I can hear the soleniod clicking on (and it also clicks on like it is supposed to when the blower motor turns on) However, I am still not getting any water to the water tray. Any suggestions?? Are you getting water out of the saddle valve when you remove the line and open the valve? Tried to remove the line before the filter? Yes, since I replaced the saddle valve, I am getting water out of it. When I disconnect the compression nut on the outlet of the solenoid, I get water through there also. It appears that the blue orifice is preventing the water from going any further, but the whole is unplugged. Maybe I am not getting enough water flow thru the solenoid??? Thanks for your help. Are you able to blow through the blue orifice? If you can't, then it may be plugged. Yes, the Orifice is clear. I can see through the whole and blow through it. I took a closer look at the in-line strainer last night. It looks like there is a tiny bit of crud towards the top of it that will not come out (even with soaking in a water/vinegar solution). However, I would guess that it is still at least 95% clear. Could this be my problem? I was thinking about putting it back together without the in-line strainer just to see if I would get water flow. Thanks for your help! Yeah, go ahead and give it a try with out the strainer and see what happens. Hose on the otherside of the solenoid valve is not pinched? Thanks for the help. I will give it a try without the strainer. The water line going to the solenoid is in good shape and the line coming out of the solenoid is free of any deposits. I've had both the inlet and outlet fittings soaking in vinegar for a day or two now. They both look pretty clean, so I don't think that is the problem. Hopefully it is jus that strainer. If I have time to work on it tonight, I'll let you know. Thanks again for the help! Well, I put everything back together today after soaking parts in a vinegar water solution and it all seems to be working now. Thanks for all your help. Good to see it's now working.. Hope it will keep working! Thanks for the update.
