Make Licorice Mint Tea

Peppermint tea is among the most popular tea flavors, but if you want to put a new spin on that old favorite, try adding a bit of licorice. When you combine peppermint with licorice, you have a an unusual tea that's deliciously refreshing.


Instructions


1. Put 6 cups of water in a large saucepan and bring it to a boil over high heat.


2. Add 1 cinnamon stick and stir in 2 1/2 tsp. dried licorice root.


3. Cover the pot loosely and turn the heat to low. Allow the mixture to simmer for 10 minutes.


4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1/2 cup dried peppermint leaves. Cover the pot and let the tea steep for 10 minutes.


5. Lay a piece of folded cheesecloth or muslin in a strainer and pour the tea through the strainer to remove the herbs. Press the cheesecloth or muslin with the back of a large spoon to extract all of the tea.


6. Stir 1/3 cup of pure organic honey into the tea.








7. Pour the licorice mint tea into 6 cups or mugs and garnish each one with a fresh mint leaf.
