Ways To Eat Spaghetti Squash

Spaghetti squash is a low-carb food.


Spaghetti squash is a great substitute for pasta for those on a lo-carb diet, according to "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Low-Carb Meals." One cup of cooked spaghetti squash has only 10g of carbohydrates as opposed to the 40g in a cup of wheat pasta. But eating this stringy squash with tomato sauce is only one way of savoring it.








Savory Pancakes


If you mix cooked spaghetti squash with your favorite spices, for example, a little salt and green onions, you can make patties with your mixture and fry it in olive oil. Add eggs to the batter to hold it together.


Pizza Crust


Mix cooked spaghetti squash with eggs and mozzarella to make a low-carb pizza crust. Press the mixture to the bottom of a pie pan and pre-bake it before adding pizza sauce and your favorite toppings. This flour-free use is also good for those who can't eat wheat products.


Hash Browns


Especially if you're trying to get your kids to eat vegetables, turning spaghetti squash into hash browns might do the trick. You'll need to mix the cooked squash with flour, so this won't be a low-carb recipe, but it should be tasty.


Dessert








Another kid-friendly option is to make a dessert with spaghetti squash. After you cook it, blend it with brown sugar, cinnamon and butter for a yummy treat. If the kids like nuts, add more nutritional power to it by tossing some in.
