Instructions To Make Meatloaf

Meatloaf recipes are customizable.

Rather than spend the week dreading eating a dry, subpar meatloaf, make one that will excite the palate. Dozens of ingredients can go into meatloaf. If the item tastes good with hamburger, it works in meatloaf. Meatloaf converts into any amount needed as well. Increasing the amounts will not affect the taste. Larger meatloaf does take longer to cook, however. Most beginner cooks can put together a successful meatloaf without problem.

Instructions

1. Leaner cuts of meat work better.

Put the ground beef in the large bowl. Turn on the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Use any type of onion you like.

Add 1 tablespoon of onions and 1/2-cup of rice per 2 pounds of ground beef. Crack an egg into the bowl, one per pound. Mix the ingredients together with your hands. Wash you hands with soap and water after mixing the meat.

3. Place a cooling rack on the cookie sheet. Spray the cooling rack with cooking spray.

4. Scoop the meat mixture onto the cooling rack. Shape it to a loaf form with your hands, no more than 2.5 inches tall. The cooling rack allows extra grease to drain from the meatloaf into the pan.

5. Place the meatloaf in the heated oven. Cook for 20 minutes.

6. Remove the meatloaf from the oven. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of pepper and 1/2 teaspoon of salt over the top. Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf. Put it back in the oven and cook until the hamburger in the middle reaches 155 to 160 degrees.

7. Remove the meatloaf from the oven. Set it aside to cool for 10 minutes before cutting it.
