Rotel Ra870 Specifications

The Rotel Company made the RA870 stereo amplifier in the late 1980s and early 1990s to provide fully integrated home system amplification at a cost-effective price. Made in Japan, the device is rated at 60 watts per channel, with 118 watts per channel at 4 ohm and 120 watts at 8 ohm.

In General

The Rotel RA870 has a professional-quality damping factor of 280. Though lacking in tone controls, it does have MM and MC phone inputs and dual-mono or stereo mode capabilities. It weighs in at about 22 pounds and is 17 x 4 x 3 inches in size.

Specifically

For when it was built, the RA870 gave users a sizable amount of power output, at 120 watts a minute. Its frequency response for phono is 20 to 20,000 Hz and for CD, tuner and cassette, it's 20 to 30,000 Hz.

Requirements and Special Features

The RA870 consumes 500 watts of power to amplify a maximum output. In 2010, it's nothing special, but in the 1980s Rotel could boast that the device easily facilitated reel-to-reel audio cassette recordings. And it stands ready to amplify CDs too.
