Cook A Lamb Roast In A Slow Cooker

A lamb roast is often served for holiday or special occasion dinners. A slow cooker promises moist, tender lamb roast every time. A simple lamb roast takes very little preparation time and the slow cooker or crock pot will cook the roast to perfection with no fuss. Using a slow cooker to roast the lamb means you have the time to prepare other dishes on your menu.

Instructions

1. Use the sharp knife to remove the fell from the lamb roast. The fell is the paper thin, pinkish-red layer on the outside of the meat.

2. Heat a heavy skillet with four tablespoons of oil to very hot over medium high heat.

3. Brown the roast by searing the outside in the hot oil. Use tongs or a meat fork to turn the roast so that all sides can be browned and seared.

4. Place the seared roast in the slow cooker.

5. Sprinkle chopped rosemary over the entire roast, turning with the tongs or fork to cover the entire roast.

6. Place the lid on the slow cooker and turn the heat on low.

7. Allow the lamb to cook for six to eight hours in the slow cooker.

8. Check the internal temperature of the roast with a meat thermometer. The meat is done when the temperature reads 150 degrees.

9. Remove the roast from the slow cooker and let it rest on a platter for 15 to 20 minutes before slicing.
