Decorate A Porch For Christmas

Many people decorate their homes for Christmas, but they often neglect to decorate the first thing guests see when visiting their home: the front porch. Welcome your holiday visitors and guests into your home with a beautifully decorated porch by using the following ideas.

Instructions

1. Decide how you want the porch to look. Use lights, plants, outdoor decorations, ribbons, wreaths and bows. Think about your favorite decorations and start with those.

2. Hang garlands wrapped with Christmas lights around the door frame. This will work for daytime and nighttime decorating. When the lights are off, the door is still decorated with the garland. Wrap the garland and lights around the railing on your porch for additional flair.

3. Cover the front door with wrapping paper. Use the shiny foil instead of the thin paper, which can get wet and soggy from outside weather. Tape or glue ribbon and a bow on the paper to make it look like a giant present.

4. Use plants around the porch. Evergreen plants with red ribbons tied on them make great Christmas decorations and can be saved for use year-round. Decorate the planters with spray paint to match them with your other decorations.

5. Set outdoor Christmas figures on the front porch. Use colorful statues, lighted statues or even animated statues in Christmas themes. Find statues that suit your taste at hardware and department stores, as well as online.

6. Place a Christmas door mat in front of the door for a finishing touch.
