Curry Smell Removal

Curry spice has a strong odor.

Curry is a spice used in a wide variety of dishes, but is especially prominent in Indian cooking. While the flavor of curry is appealing to many people, the lingering odor that the spice leaves is not. As the spice cooks, it releases oil that clings to surfaces, resulting in an odor that takes a long time to dissipate. However, there are some ways to remove the curry smell without giving up the spice.

Instructions

1. Open all windows and doors in the areas surrounding the kitchen to increase air circulation.

2. Fill a bowl with a mixture of 1 cup of water to 2 tbsp. of white vinegar. Insert a sponge into the mixture and wring the sponge out as tightly as possible.

3. Wipe all hard surfaces, including furniture and walls with the vinegar solution to remove the curry oils on them. Rinse the sponge frequently in the bowl as you clean.

4. Fill a bucket with the same ratio of water and vinegar and insert a mop into it. Wring the mop out and use it to wipe down all hard floor surfaces to remove the curry oil from them.

5. Place an ozone generator, also called an ionizer, in the room with the strongest curry smell. Plug the machine into an electrical outlet and turn it on. Allow the ionizer to run constantly until the odor is no longer detectable.
