Unique Food Ideas For Graduation Party

Plan a special party for your graduate.

Your graduate has worked hard, and now it is time to celebrate. Make your party special with unique food that your guests are sure to love. Simple and delicious, these ideas will not keep you in the kitchen all day. Your graduate will appreciate your effort to make their day memorable.

Cold Buffet

A cold buffet is simple to put together and much of it can be prepared in advance. Since most graduations are in the spring, a cold buffet will keep you out of a hot kitchen on the day of your event. Begin your buffet with a series of salads which may include a green salad, curried rice, pasta salad, potato salad or coleslaw. Lay out a selection of crusty breads, cold meats and cheeses. End your buffet with must-have desserts. Some fun ideas are a chocolate trifle, strawberries and meringue, cheesecake and do-it-yourself ice cream sundaes.

Theme

A party theme can be an unusual feature of your graduation celebration. Students love a do-it-yourself pizza party. Include toppings such as pineapple, assorted meats and veggies. Dessert buffets are also a big hit. Include a graduation cake along with cookies, mints in school colors, brownies or a sundae bar. Another option is to make your party a fiesta with a taco bar. Include soft and crunchy tortillas, chips, guacamole, beef and chicken, beans, cheese, lettuce and any other toppings you like. End the meal with sopapillas, churros or fried ice cream.

Dessert

Be creative and finish your graduation party with some one-of-a-kind desserts. Colorful ribbon in school colors turns cupcakes into balloons. Bake a cake in the shape of a diploma, or stack a square chocolate cookie over a peanut butter cup to make miniature graduation caps/mortarboards. Make a tassel out of ribbon or a slice of a fruit roll-up and set on top of the cap.
