Chocolate-covered strawberries make a wonderful treat in the summer time. They also make a nice dessert for a dinner date and are a fabulous gift idea. It is recommended that you buy the strawberries no more than the day before you are ready to cover them. Chocolate-covered strawberries are best eaten the same day that you make them but can be stored for a couple of days.
Instructions
1. Choose a covered plastic container to store your chocolate-covered strawberries in. Make sure the container is large enough to hold all of the strawberries without squishing or crowding.
2. Lay the chocolate-covered strawberries on a piece of parchment or waxed paper and place them in the refrigerator for 8 hours to harden thoroughly the chocolate. Remove them from the refrigerator and allow them to come to room temperature if you are going to eat them right away. Do not let the strawberries warm up if you are going to store them.
3. Line the bottom of your plastic container with parchment or waxed paper and then place a single layer of chocolate-covered strawberries on top of the paper.
4. Put another piece of paper in and then add your second layer of strawberries. Continue layering the strawberries, placing a piece of paper between each layer, until the container is full or you have used up all of the berries.
5. End your layering process with a piece of the parchment or waxed paper and then put the lid on your container. Place the container in the refrigerator on the bottom shelf or in the bottom vegetable drawer, because this is the coldest spot in the refrigerator. Chocolate-covered strawberries have to be kept very cold when storing.
