Use Raspberry Pie Filling

Raspberries are high in antioxidants and Vitamin C.

For those who enjoy fruit-filled baked goods, there's nothing like biting into pies and cakes with fruit hidden inside that oozes out when you bite into it. Fruit fillings meant for pies are commonly used for adding to other baked goods as well. If you enjoy the taste of raspberries, raspberry pie is easy to make with prepared filling. If you're not in the mood for pie, the filling can be used as a sweet and tart layer in the middle of cake.

Instructions

For Pies

1. Place a ready-made pie crust into a pie pan of the same size. The standard size for pies is 9 inches.

2. Pour the raspberry filling into the pie crust until it reaches about 1/2 an inch from the top of the pan.

3. Cover the filling with the top crust of the pie, pinching the edges shut. Cut slits into the top pie crust to ventilate the pie.

4. Bake the raspberry pie in the oven for 10 minutes at 425 degrees Fahrenheit, then reduce the heat to 350 degrees and continue baking for 45 minutes until the crust in golden brown.

Cake Layers

5. Fill a pastry bag with icing and use 2 freshly baked cakes or slice one cake in half horizontally to make two create 2 tiers of cake.

6. Pipe the icing onto one cake in a circle around the edge of the cake. This will help keep the raspberry filling from squeezing out when stacking the other cake on top.

7. Spread the raspberry filling in the middle of the icing circle, distributing it evenly onto the cake.

8. Carefully place the other cake or cake half on top of the cake with the icing and raspberry filling, making sure the top cake is set evenly. Ice the tops and sides of the cake as you wish.
