Cook With Apple Cider

Fresh, sweet apple cider is a delicious and healthy beverage, but it is also a versatile ingredient that can easily be incorporated into your favorites recipes. Apple cider has many great culinary uses and will add a sweet, tangy flavor to poultry, meats, breads and desserts.

Instructions

1. Use apple cider as a substitute for alcohol in recipes calling for beer, wine, rum or sherry.

2. Make a healthy salad dressing by mixing apple cider, oil, blue cheese and a little bit of minced garlic.

3. Combine apple cider with honey, chili powder, minced garlic and a little bit of salt for a flavorful pork or poultry marinade.

4. Experiment with apple cider as a substitute for water in any recipe. Use apple cider instead of water when cooking green beans, brussel sprouts, brocolli or spinach. Make a healthy and delicious winter breakfast by substituting apple cider in place of water in oatmeal or any other hot cereal.

5. Make an easy and delicious cider sauce to top your favorite desserts. Blend 1 tbsp. butter with 3/4 tbsp. of flour and cook over low heat, stirring constantly. Add 1 1/2 cup of cider and mix until smooth. Add 2 tbsp. of sugar and boil until the sugar is completely dissolved, about five minutes, then serve it hot over cake, pie, ice cream or pudding.

6. Use apple cider as a substitute for broth in any meat or poultry recipe and zing up your gravy by stirring in a little apple cider. Stir some apple cider into mashed potatoes instead of milk or water to add a new and different flavor.

7. Try stirring a little apple cider into your favorite potato salad recipe.
