Mix Cucumbers With Water And Vinegar

Cucumbers are generally a vegetable for warm seasons. They grow on vines in gardens or in pots, and are available in varieties good for both slicing and pickling. A cucumber is ready to be eaten when it is firm, green and crisp. Cucumbers are a low-calorie snack. They can be added to sandwiches, pickled or made into a salad with water and vinegar.

Instructions

Basic

1. Peel two to three cucumbers. Slice and place in large ceramic bowl.

2. Peel sweet Vidalia onion and then dice. Add to bowl.

3. Pour in 1-1/2 cups each of white vinegar and water.

4. Add 1 tsp. sea salt and 1 tbsp. red pepper.

5. Stir ingredients together and refrigerate for a day or two.

Options

6. Dice cucumbers instead of slicing. This will give a different texture to the salad.

7. Add olives or diced peppers to change the taste.

8. Sprinkle mint or basil instead of the red pepper.

9. Add 1 tsp. of sugar to sweeten the mixture.

10. Use apple cider vinegar in place of white vinegar.
