Order Dried Hot Peppers

Dried hot peppers can be added to many recipes.

Dried chili peppers are useful for adding spice and flavor to a variety of dishes. Ground cayenne pepper can be added to chili recipes or to spice up chicken dishes. Dried habanero peppers are spicier than just about any other hot pepper available and when ground offer heat as well as fruity flavor to Indian food, salsas and chili recipes. Whole dried peppers can be added to Asian stir fry dishes. When added, whole dried hot pepper oils seep out of the peppers and into the stir fry sauce, adding heat and spice to the dish.

Instructions

1. Decide which type of dried hot pepper you need for your recipe. Search online or at your local spice store for a variety of dried hot peppers. Understand that many recipes call for dried jalapeno peppers and other recipes don't call for peppers, but you can add dried peppers or dried pepper powder for heat and spice.

2. Select dried pasilla peppers for Mexican chicken mole recipes. Add ground pasilla pepper to mole for a nutty, tangy spice. Order dried serrano peppers if you tried jalapenos and don't care for the taste or want to try something different.

3. Add small amounts of dried piquin (or pequin) pepper to salsa recipes, understanding that this incredibly spicy pepper registers 40,000 to 50,000 units on the Scoville scale, a scale developed by a chemist to measure and indicate the spiciness of hot peppers.

4. Choose ground limon pepper for a milder spice such as the kind used in Tabasco sauce or cayenne pepper sauce. Use limon peppers to create your own hot pepper sauce for seasoning on chicken, eggs and other dishes.

5. Select a combined ground chili pepper powder for a mixture of flavorful heat to add to chili recipes and spaghetti sauces. Buy whole dried hot peppers and experiment with different combinations by grinding them yourself with a mortar and pestle into a fine ground spice that you can add to dishes.
