Cook A Rump Roast In The Crockpot

Cook a rump roast in a crock pot with vegetables to create a simple dinner.

Rump roast comes from the hindquarters of beef or veal. When you cook the roast slowly over low heat it helps to tenderize it. A crock pot, also known as a slow cooker, helps to maintain the low temperature needed to cook the roast. You can add your desired seasonings to the roast to customize it to your tastes. The roast will need prepared at least 8 to 10 hours before your meal to give it time to cook.

Instructions

1. Rub your desired seasonings over the rump roast. You can create a quick rub mixture by combining 1 tablespoon ground black pepper, 1 tablespoon paprika, 2 tablespoons of chili powder and 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder. Rub the dry seasonings on the roast to coat it entirely.

2. Place the rump roast into the crock pot. Add 1/2 cup of water.

3. Cover the crock pot. Cook the rump roast on low for 8 to 10 hours.

4. Transfer the rump roast to a serving platter when it is tender and well-done. The internal temperature needs to reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

5. Remove the fat from the juice in the crock pot to create au jus sauce. Serve the sauce with the rump roast.
