Brands Of Sweet Red Wine

Sweet red wines are made all over the world.


Sweet red wines are produced in many countries with various degrees of sweetness. Some sweet red wines are dark and viscous like sherry, while others are light and have a slight effervescence, like Lambrusco. They all contain various levels of residual sugar, which is the natural grape sugar left in wine after fermentation.


Riunite


Riunite is the Italian maker of Lambrusco, a sweet red wine with a touch of effervescence that pairs well with spicy Chinese and Indian dishes. It is typically served chilled. Riunite also makes a raspberry cabernet wine, a cabernet sauvignon infused with raspberry fruit juice.


George Duboeuf


Georges Duboeuf is the French winemaker and a producer of Beaujolais nouveau, the seasonal, slightly sweet red wine that is released on the third Thursday of November of every year, making it a popular Thanksgiving dinner wine. Beaujolais nouveau is made from the gamay grape, which produces a light, fruity wine that can be served slightly chilled.


Manischewitz


Manischewitz is an American company that has been producing kosher wines for more than 60 years. Their sweet red wines include, concord grape, blackberry, cherry and elderberry.


Voulet


Voulet is a producer of malvasia rosso, a sweet red wine from northwest Italy. Similar to Lambrusco, malvasia has a slight sparkle and can be served chilled either alone or with exotic spicy dishes.








Emilio Lustau


Emilio Lustau is a major Spanish producer of sherry wines that include the sweet red Lustau Oloroso NV and the rich and viscous Lustau Pedro Xim nez Solera Reserva NV. These wines are usually served after dinner with assorted fruit and cheese.


Harveys


Harveys is the British maker of Harveys Bristol Cream, a proprietary blend that is sweetened with pedro xim nez wine. Harveys is popular as an aperitif or an after-dinner drink.


Ca' Togni








Ca' Togni, from the Togni vineyards in Napa Valley, is a sweet red wine made from the black Hamburg grape. It receives four years of bottle age and has an alcohol content of 14.4 percent.


Arbor Hill


Arbor Hill, a Finger Lakes winery, is the producer of Rhine Street wine, a sweet red table wine made from a blend of Catawba, Niagara or Delaware grapes. The bottle labels are sketched by a local artist depicting the the local lifestyle as it was 100 years ago.
