Unlock A Samsung M150

Having a SIM-locked M150 cellphone restricts you from using the handheld device with any other network provider that you might want to switch to. If you ever plan to travel overseas, you will have no choice but to bear high roaming charges. Unlocking the handset is an effective solution to this problem. Unlocking is a one-time activity that can be done for a small fee. Once unlocked, you can use the phone with any GSM network provider in the world.

Instructions

1. Obtain your phone's International Mobile Equipment Identity number (IMEI), which is your phone's unique ID code used for identifying it. The M150's IMEI can be found out by typing "*#06#."

2. Ask your network service provider for the unlock code. Though your carrier is not bound by the law to disclose it, try asking for it once. The carrier considers your reason for having the mobile device unlocked, and decides whether or not you should get it. For instance, it will provide you with the code if you're going away to a foreign destination where the carrier doesn't offer roaming services.

3. Obtain a code from a website like GSM Liberty, Cell Corner or Unlock All Cellular if you can't get the code from your provider. These cost somewhere between $9 and $49.99, depending on the network the phone is locked to, as of 2010.

4. Insert a SIM card from a network provider other than your current one. Type "#0111*CODE#" (where "CODE" is the unlock code you obtained. Press the "Send" button. If successfully unlocked, the phone's screen will read "Personalization Canceled."
