Make Healthy Buffalo Wings

Football watching and buffalo wings go hand in hand.

Healthy buffalo wings are an alternative to the original article. The latter are deep-fried chicken wings, dipped in a vinegar-based hot sauce and melted butter. Use all-natural ingredients, and continue the tradition of the original recipe that started in 1964. Buffalo wings were allegedly created when a mom decided to fix a snack for her son and his friends late one night. The basis of the name for this chicken-wing preparation comes from the town of Buffalo, New York where the family lived.

Instructions

1. Mix the Greek yogurt, blue cheese, onion and garlic in a glass mason jar, stir, cover and store in the refrigerator overnight.

2. Brine your wings overnight. Combine the honey, salt and warm water. Stir until the salt and honey are dissolved. Place the wings in a plastic, resealable bag, and pour over the liquid over them. Squeeze out the excess air and seal. Refrigerate overnight.

3. Rinse the wings about an hour before the serving time. Place them in a colander, and run cool tap water over them. Pat off the excess water with a few paper towels.

4. Toss the wings in the extra-virgin olive oil -- using a large mixing bowl -- until they are well-coated.

5. Bake the wings on roasting pan for 30 minutes at 400 F. Turn the wings and bake for another 20 minutes. Remove from the oven.

6. Melt the butter in a large, metal mixing bowl until it is liquid; add the butter to the hot sauce. Mix well. Add the baked wings to the butter sauce. Stir the wings to coat them.

7. Remove the wings from the sauce. Let the extra sauce drip off momentarily, and then plate them up for serving. Add the blue cheese dressing as a side, along with celery sticks.
