Make Baby Carrots

Making your own baby food can not only save you money, it can allow you to have control over exactly what your baby is eating. Carrots are one of the first foods babies 6 months and older can enjoy. Carrots are full of wonderful nutrients for your baby. While you can buy a jar of carrots made, making your own can be fun and easy.

Instructions

1. Purchase carrots. Fresh organic baby carrots are a great choice because they are small and don't need to be peeled. You can also purchase fresh standard carrots or frozen carrots to make your baby carrots.

2. Cook the carrots until they are very tender. Steaming is the best way to prepare carrots as it will preserve the most nutrients. You can also boil or bake your carrots.

3. Place cooked carrots in a blender or food processor. Slicing them in small pieces can help to get the carrots in the blender or processor more easily.

4. Add a little water to the carrots in the blender or the food processor and process or blend until the texture is thin like a puree.

5. Store the carrots. If the carrots will not be eaten in the next day, place the carrots in ice cube trays to freeze. Once the cubes are frozen, transfer to a plastic storage bag and label with the date. Use within a few months.
