Make Wine From Blackberry Concentrate

Making your own wine is a great way to save money if you need a lot of alcohol for a party or event. It is also a great experiment and a part of natural living. Use the steps below to make a delicious wine.

Instructions

1. Gather all the needed materials in one place. This will prevent you from having to leave in the middle of the project to search for needed materials. This is especially important after the yeast goes in. You may also want to have paper towels or a wet dishcloth available for spills.

2. Pour the blackberry concentrate into the gallon jug. Add water to about 2 inches above the halfway point. Cap the jug and shake feverishly to mix well. Add the sugar and cap and shake again. Shake until the sugar is completely dissolved.

3. Prepare the yeast by adding the amount of water to it recommended on the package directions. Do not stir the mixture. Allow to sit untouched. As the yeast begins to hydrate, add a spoonful of sugar and softly stir. Let sit again until it begins to form a head of foam up to an inch tall. Pour the foamy yeast into the gallon jug, cap and shake well.

4. Remove the cap and place the balloon over the opening of the jug. Secure the balloon by wrapping the rubber band tightly around the jug opening and balloon. Push the rest of the balloon into the jug. It should not hang on the outside of the jug.

5. Wipe off the outside of the jug and place it in a cool dark place for two weeks. During this time the balloon will inflate as the wine ferments. After two weeks have passed, check the jug and make sure that the balloon is deflated completely. Strain the mixture into a glass container and refrigerate for another two weeks before drinking.
