Freeze Empanadas

Fill empanadas with your favorite ingredients.

Empanadas consist of stuffed pastry or bread, generally either cooked or fried. The stuffing inside the empanadas can contain a variety of vegetables, meat or fruits. The recipe for empanadas varies according to personal tastes and cultural influences. Prepare the empanadas ahead of time and freeze them for quick meals. When you are ready to enjoy an empanada, you do not have to wait for it to thaw.

Instructions

1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the uncooked empanadas onto the baking sheet in a single layer. Avoid letting the empanadas touch, so that they do not freeze together.

2. Insert the baking sheet into the freezer. Freeze the empanadas until they are firm.

3. Remove the empanadas from the freezer. Wrap each empanada tightly in plastic wrap.

4. Place the empanadas into a freezer storage bag. Seal the bag shut, and place the empanadas in the freezer.

5. Bake or fry the frozen empanadas without thawing them. Extend the baking time by 15 to 20 minutes to ensure that they cook thoroughly.
