Make Matzoh Bread Houses

Make your matzoh into a festive holiday house.

A matzoh bread house is festive and creative. It makes a great centerpiece to a Seder table or Hanukkah table, and is a fun twist on the gingerbread house. The best part is that you can customize your house with your favorite kosher candies to look any way you'd like. Some favorite candy decorations include Turkish apricots, chocolate-covered mini doughnuts, candy orange and lime slices, candy canes, gumdrops and chocolate Hanukkah gelt coins.

Instructions

1. Cut the bottom off your box. Create a pointed rooftop shape out of the top of your box by attaching the bottom piece in a point to the two flaps on the top using masking tape. Set your house-shaped box your square piece of cardboard, which will serve as the base.

2. Melt the chocolate in the plastic bag or pastry bag in the microwave. Do not put your large writing tips in the microwave if they are not microwavable. Squeeze chocolate around the base of the house to secure it in place. Then cover one side of the house with a thin layer of chocolate and apply a piece of matzoh bread.

3. Repeat the process on the other sides of the house and roof. Pipe decorative caulking to fill the edges.

4. Cut a piece of matzoh across diagonally and use the two sides to fill the triangle between the roof and house in the front and back.

5. Decorate the rest of the house and lawn however you see fit, using the chocolate to attach candy. Break pieces of matzoh to cover the base of the house, or use candies and chocolate.
