Make Beef Stew In The Crock Pot

This beef stew recipe will make its own gravy. When you come home after a long day at work, it will be ready, and so will the gravy! The ingredients are not an exact science, you may want to add more or less of a vegetable, depending on personal preference. I like to add fresh mushrooms, and my mother always wants more potatoes. It will also depend on the size of your crock pot.

Instructions

1. Add oil to the skillet and heat. Add just enough oil to lightly coat the pan. Heat.

2. Wash stew meat in water. Toss in flour until well coated, and then brown in the skillet of oil. Cook on high heat, to make the outside of the meat crispy brown, but not to completely cook the inside.

3. Cut the potatoes into quarters. Cut the carrots and celery into about 2 inch lengths. Cut the bell pepper and onions into large bite sized wedges. Add all to the crock pot.

4. Add the two cans of the beef broth to the crock pot.

5. Pour the meat (oil and all) into the crock pot. Stir.

6. Salt, pepper, season with seasoning, and give a splash or two of Worcestershire Sauce to the ingredients in the crock pot.

7. Sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of flour over the ingredients, stir slightly, cover pot and turn to low. It should cook all day. If you are cooking for half a day, cook on high.
