Buy Safer Sparklers

The exciting snap, crackle, pop of sparklers instantly transforms any gathering into a festive event. Keep your friends and family safe by choosing the right sparkler for each occasion and you can ensure they'll have sparkling memories for years to come.

Instructions

1. Ban the metal. Wooden stick sparklers are the safest choice for children. Unlike metal wire sparklers, a wooden sparkler isn't as sharp and is less likely to cause a wound during your children's mock sword fights. Wooden sparklers also cool more quickly after they extinguish, sparing your children from accidentally burning themselves by stepping on or picking up used sparklers.

2. Lose the smoke. For indoor use, smoke-free sparklers are your best choice. If you want to add some pizazz to a dessert, smokeless metal novelty sparklers, such as ice fountain candles, can easily do the trick. However, look for a label saying your sparklers are safe for indoor use before you light them inside, and don't touch them after they are finished burning until they have had sufficient time to cool.

3. Read the label. Never buy fireworks that don't have the regulation BS-7114 mark of approval, and always buy legal fireworks from an authorized, reputable source.
