Freeze Chili
Soup
Chili soup, or just plain chili as it is commonly called, lends itself to making more than is needed and freezing the leftovers for later. Whatever your favorite chili recipe, leftover chili often tastes even better because the ingredients have a chance to blend. Freezing leftovers, or making up fresh batches specifically for freezing, will give you quick meals for later.
Instructions
1. Cook chili soup according to the recipe instructions. Allow to cool to room temperature before packaging for freezing.
2. Open gallon-size freezer bags and roll the open end over the top of the bag. This will prevent the chili from dripping into the zipper seam, which could prevent proper sealing of the bag.
3. Place the empty bag upright in a bowl slightly larger than the bag.
4. Ladle the chili into the open bag. Fill until the bag is approximately 3/4 full.
5. Seal the bag, pressing out excess air. This will help prevent freezer burn in the chili.
6. Label the bags with a permanent marker with contents and date. Freeze for up to four months.
