It is very easy and a lot of fun to make a cinnamon dough basket. This basket is a pleasant way to fill your home with the aromatic scent of cinnamon. Instructions
Making the Dough
1. Measure 1 cup of applesauce into a bowl.
2. Add 1/4 cup tacky glue. Purchase tacky glue at local craft stores and most large discount stores.
3. Stir in half of the cinnamon.
4. Continue adding the cinnamon slowly until the mixture becomes the consistency of clay.
5. Shape the dough into a ball.
Making the Basket
6. Mold 1/2 cup of cinnamon dough into a ball and place it on a large piece of plastic wrap.
7. Cover the ball of dough with another sheet of plastic wrap and roll the dough into a circle approximately 8 to 10 inches in circumference, and about 1/8 inch thick.
8. Place a glass jar or drinking glass upside down on a cookie sheet and spray it with a very light coating of cooking spray.
9. Take off the top sheet of plastic wrap and carefully use the bottom sheet of plastic wrap to pick up the circular piece of dough.
10. Center the dough over the bottom of the jar or glass, allowing it to fall into a natural shape around the glass.
11. Put the cookie sheet into a preheated 150 degree oven. Bake for approximately 3 hours, making sure to leave the oven door slightly ajar.
12. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and allow the dough to cool before removing it from the glass.
