Freshen Pretzels

It's happened to all of us. You get that hankering for a crisp, delicious pretzel, only to discover after one bite that the salty snack has become tasteless and stale, sometimes after just a couple of days in the cupboard. Fortunately, it isn't necessary to throw expensive snacks in the garbage, because in just a few minutes, you can freshen pretzels so that they're good as new. The pretzel-freshening technique also works on saltines, snack crackers, dry cereal, and even chow mein noodles. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

Freshen Pretzels in the Oven

1. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F. Spread the stale pretzels on a cookie sheet. The pretzels should be in a single layer and shouldn't be touching.

2. Leave the pretzels in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Flip them halfway through the cooking time, and check them often so they don't burn.

3. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven, and put it on a wire rack to cool. Allow the pretzels to cool completely before eating.

Freshen Pretzels in the Microwave

4. Place the stale pretzels in a microwave-safe bowl. Cover the pretzels with a paper towel.

5. Microwave the pretzels on high for 30 seconds.

6. Spread the freshened pretzels on a tray or plate. Allow the pretzels to cool completely before eating.
