Make Peanut Butter Brownie Icing

Make Peanut Butter Brownie Icing

Peanut butter lovers will appreciate this rich, thick brownie icing made with real peanut butter. This recipe yields approximately 10 servings of peanut butter brownie icing, or enough to ice one 8-inch pan of brownies. Although it's not low-fat, with each serving containing 399 calories, it is a big hit with kids and adults alike. The icing can even be modified to feed a vegan crowd, if necessary.

Instructions

1. Place the butter in the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds to soften, being careful not to melt it. Alternatively, you can leave it sitting out at room temperature for about 30 minutes to soften.

2. Combine the softened butter with the powdered sugar, peanut butter, milk and vanilla in a food processor or blender container. Process on medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the icing is smooth and creamy.

3. Transfer the peanut butter brownie icing to a large mixing bowl, and place in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. This will allow the mixture to firm up and become easier to spread.

4. Remove the icing from the refrigerator, and frost your brownies using a butter knife or the back of a spoon to spread. Make sure the brownies are completely cool, or the icing will melt and become runny.
