Eat Foie Gras

Foie gras is rich in texture and flavor.

Foie gras is a popular French dish. The term in French means, "fatty liver" and is considered a rich delicacy since it is very fatty. Foie gras is made up entirely of duck or goose liver and can be eaten in many different ways depending on your preference. You can try this dish in a French restaurant or in the comfort of your own home. Experiment different ways of eating the dish to decide which way is your favorite.

Instructions

1. Eat foie gras with either white sandwich bread or whole wheat bread. Avoid eating the foie gras with rolls. Toast your bread lightly and remove the crusts. Slice a thin piece of the foie gras and place it on the bread and eat the two together.

2. Eat your foie gras with a compatible wine. Ask for a sweet Bordeaux wine. If this is not available, other pairings can be Jurancon, Bergerac or Monbazillac.

3. Cube the foie gras into small cubes and mix it in with a sauceless pasta. Add some extra-virgin olive oil to add more flavor.

4. Sear the whole foie gras in a hot pan. This should be done quickly since the liver is very fatty and can be melted away. The outside should be brown and the center should be a light pink. Serve with bread or alone. You can also add different condiments such as hot sauce if you want a bit of kick.

5. Pair the foie gras with something sweet such as dried figs, a fruit jam or compote. The differences in texture and taste can be harmonious and delicious.
