Microwave A Turkey

When preparing to cook a turkey, most people immediately think of using a conventional oven. However, did you know that it is also possible to prepare a turkey using your microwave oven? This guide will provide you with step by step instructions on prepare a delicious "baked" turkey using your microwave oven.


Instructions


1. Prep your defrosted turkey by removing all giblets and applying spices and seasonings to taste.


2. Take a large microwave safe roasting bag and place the turkey inside the bag. Loosely seal the bag with a non metal tie. The bag must be allowed to vent.


3. Place the bagged turkey on a microwave safe plate.


4. When putting the turkey into the microwave make sure there are three inches of top clearance and another two to three inches of space around the turkey.


5. Cooking times will vary depending on oven wattages, generally, nine to ten minutes per pound at fifty percent power is recommended. Consult your owners manual.








6. If your microwave does not have a turntable, rotating the turkey approximately halfway through the cooking time will ensure even doneness.


7. After the turkey has finished cooking open the roasting bag and insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the bird to make sure that it has reached an internal temperature of at least one hundred sixty five degrees.


8. When the turkey is done allow it to stand for twenty minutes before carving.
