Resize An Illustrator Document

Adobe Illustrator is one of the many dynamic design applications within the Adobe Master Collection software suite. As a prominent platform for creating vector graphics, Adobe Illustrator is commonly used to design and manipulate all types of images and text documents. The program allows quick resizing of documents. Use the Save for Webs and Devices tool to change the dimensions of an Adobe Illustrator file.

Instructions

1. Open Adobe Illustrator on the computer.

2. Click the "File" tab on the Adobe Illustrator menu and click "Open" to access the computer's file folder directory.

3. Locate and access the .AI (Adobe Illustrator) document you want to resize. Click the "Open" button to load the file in Adobe Illustrator.

4. Click "File" again and go to "Save for Web and Devices." The document will open in the Save for Web and Devices window over the Illustrator application window. There will be an extended menu in the right pane of the window.

5. Go down to the Image Size tool where the current width and length of the document will be displayed in the text boxes.

6. Check the box next to the "Constrain Proportions" option to ensure that the measurement changes do not distort the image.

7. Erase the current measurements in the text boxes.

8. Enter a new numerical figure in the width text box. The length will be generated automatically as a constrained proportion.

9. Click the "Save" button at the top of the Save for Web and Devices window to apply the resizing changes to the document.
