How Should I Store Homemade Hummus

Hummus contains tahini or sesame paste.

Hummus is a healthy dip made from pureed chick peas and a few other savory ingredients. The word hummus literally means chickpea in Arabic. According to an article published on the North Dakota State University Agriculture website, hummus is one of the first prepared dishes in history. Ancient civilizations like Egypt and areas of the Mediterranean may be home to this tasty dish. You don't have to buy hummus from the grocery store, you can make your own. After preparing this pale recipe, you'll need to store it properly.

Instructions

1. Spoon cooled hummus into a plastic container. Seal the container with a tight-fitting lid. Store the dip in the refrigerator up to five days.

2. Place the dip in freezer containers. Write the date on the lid. Use the hummus within one month.

3. Scoop up the hummus and put it in a zippered freezer bag. Place a straw in the bag and suck out all the air. This will keep the hummus fresher longer without exposing it to freezer burn.
