Get Melted Chocolate To Stick To Pretzels

Chocolate-dipped pretzels are delicious if they are made the right way.

Chocolate-covered pretzels are a favorite treat of many. Besides being delicious, they are also quite simple to make yourself if you know coat the pretzels with the chocolate properly. Many people think that you can make the treats by simply melting chocolate and dipping the pretzels, but this method results in the chocolate sticking poorly to the pretzels, and the treats won't dry properly. Although only a small amount is used, a special ingredient makes the chocolate stick to the pretzels easily.

Instructions

1. Fill a large saucepan halfway with water, and bring it to a simmer.

2. Set a large glass bowl over the top of the saucepan. The water should not touch the bottom of the bowl. If it does, simply pour a small amount out and allow the remaining water to reach a simmer again.

3. Pour a bag of chocolate chips into the glass bowl, as well as 1 1/2 tbsp. shortening. The shortening helps the chocolate bind properly to the pretzels and allows the chocolate to solidify with an attractive shine.

4. Stir the chocolate chips and shortening constantly until it melts down.

5. Apply the chocolate to the pretzels as quickly as possible. If you are coating small pretzels, place them in a strainer and pour chocolate over them. Pretzel rods can be dipped directly into the melted chocolate.

6. Set the freshly coated pretzels on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Allow the chocolate to harden for 30 minutes.
