Display Cheese & Crackers

Select several varieties of cheese for your display.

A staple at most gatherings and used as a quick snack at home, cheese and crackers mix the crunchiness of a cracker with the soft texture of a cheese. When preparing a display of cheese and crackers, consider creating a festive display rather than just pulling out the cracker boxes and cheese slices. Give yourself, and guests, a variety of crackers to choose from and a large selection of cheeses. Include fruits such as green grapes or sliced green apples, nuts or olives in the display for additional flavors.

Instructions

1. Select the crackers. Choose from rye, wheat, sesame, salted or buttery. Decide on the shape of the cracker, such as a stick, rounded or square.

2. Prepare the cheeses. Select from blue cheese, cheddar, Swiss, American or jack. Cut cheese into small thin slices, triangles, squares or chunks.

3. Rinse the fruit. Core and slice the apples. Pull the grapes from the stems.

4. Divide the cheese and crackers in half. Create a border of alternating crackers on the tray. Overlap an alternating display of cheeses. Leave room for the kabobs.

5. Make the kabobs. Stick the apple on the toothpick. Slide on a slice of blue cheese. Place it on a cracker. Repeat with the green grapes, alternating cheeses and crackers.

6. Finish the tray by adding the cracker kabobs in the center. Drop several handfuls of mixed nuts in a martini glass and place on one end of the display. Put olives into the remaining martini glass on the other end of the tray.
