Use Leftover Ham (A Delicious Dinner Recipe Idea)

Combine leftover ham with other ingredients to create tasty and filling dinners.

Create a unique meal idea with the leftover ham from your previous day's celebratory lunch. Transform it into a delicious dinner for your family, so that you don't feel like you are eating boring leftovers. Integrate the ham into a traditional Swiss rosti recipe, which is the Swiss version of the potato pancake. Combine the ham with other basic ingredients, and you'll have a new dish -- a tasty and filling ham Swiss rosti for your next weeknight dinner.

Instructions

1. Parboil the potatoes, in their skins, in salted water for 10 minutes. Drain the water and let the potatoes cool.

2. Peel the potatoes with a knife and coarsely grate them with a grater. Finely dice the ham, onions and garlic cloves.

3. Fry the ham with butter in a 9-inch frying pan over medium heat, until it turns crisp. Add the chopped onions and garlic cloves and fry until lightly browned.

4. Add the grated potatoes and gently flatten them down in the pan along with the rest of the ingredients with the back of a spatula. Sprinkle salt, pepper and chopped rosemary over the ham Swiss rosti and let it cook on low heat for 15 minutes.

5. Set the top side of a wide-brimmed plate over the rosti and invert the frying pan to transfer the rosti onto the plate. Gently slide the rosti back into the pan to allow the underside to cook for 10 minutes, or until done. Because the rosti has a crumbly texture, you cannot easily flip it on the other side like a pancake, which is why you need to use a plate.
