Make Fruit Leather In A American Harvest Dehydrator

Puree fruits to turn into fruit leather with an American Harvest dehydrator.

Avoid the artificial colors, flavors and added sugars of commercially produced fruit leather by making your own in a dehydrator. American Harvest dehydrators, made by Nesco, offer an optional tray designed for turning homemade fruit purees into healthy, all-natural fruit leather. Try it as an alternative to gummy candy that can be enjoyed by both adults and children.

Instructions

1. Use a paper towel to apply a thin coating of vegetable oil to the surface of a fruit roll sheet tray.

2. Pour fruit puree into the tray to a depth of one-fourth- to three-eighths-inch thick.

3. Place the fruit roll sheet tray in the dehydrator.

4. Turn on the dehydrator and set it to 130 to 140 degrees F.

5. Allow the fruit leather to dry for four to eight hours, or until pliable and leathery without any sticky areas.

6. Remove the fruit leather from the tray and wrap it in plastic wrap while still warm to store.
