Keep Appetizers Warm

Wrap appetizers in aluminum foil to keep them warm.

If you're created a menu for your guests and realize all the warm appetizers won't fit in your oven, don't panic. Consider nontraditional warming methods, such as setting appetizers on top of towel-covered heating pads set at high temperature. With a little bit of ingenuity, your guests will be impressed by both the food you offer them and your inventiveness.

Instructions

Outside the Home

1. Line a cooler with aluminum foil.

2. Bake or microwave potatoes for 10 minutes.

3. Put the potatoes inside the cooler. The aluminum foil below the potatoes will act as an extra layer of insulation.

4. Put appetizer filled containers on top of the potatoes, and close the lid. Open it as few times as possible to avoid losing heat.

Rice Pillow

5. Fill a pillow case with two to three bags of rice.

6. Measure the length of the pillowcase opening. Cut the same length of seaming tape.

7. Lay the seaming tape in the opening of the pillowcase.

8. Press the seam you placed at the entrance of the pillowcase with a hot iron. It will prevent the rice from falling out of the bag.

9. Microwave the rice pillow for five minutes then lay the rice pillow out on a table. Set trays filled with appetizers on top of the rice pillow.

Basic Alternatives

10. Use a chafing dish: a serving pan that uses electricity or Sterno burners to heat water and keep the appetizers warm.

11. Serve dips and soups in a slow cooker set at "low," or place the ceramic slow cooker insert inside an insulated carrier.

12. Warm chicken wings, meatballs and other appetizers in an electric roaster set to the lowest temperature.
