Pan-seared tofu with orange-sesame glaze is a very simple, easy to make tofu dish that is excellent for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Combining the salty, savory taste of tamari with fresh citrus juice and honey, this tofu is rich and bold in flavor and presentation. Garnishing the tofu with fresh chopped coriander leaves adds complexity to the tofu, making it a simple but sophisticated main dish. Serve with a mixed greens salad with simple white wine vinaigrette and a bowl of mixed nuts.
Instructions
1. Combine the tamari, orange juice, lime juice, honey and sesame oil in a medium mixing bowl and whisk thoroughly to combine. Season with freshly ground black pepper and set aside until needed.
2. Spray a large sauté pan with nonstick cooking spray and heat over medium heat. Add the tofu and cook for 5-6 minutes until crisp. Flip the tofu over and cook for another 5 minutes. Repeat this process until all the tofu is cooked if your sauté pan is not large enough to hold all of the tofu slices.
3. Add the tamari mixture to the sauté pan with the tofu and move the pan to mix. Reduce the heat to medium and cook for another 2 minutes.
4. Remove the tofu from the pan and transfer to a large serving platter and scatter the sesame seeds over the top. Garnish with the chopped fresh coriander leaves and serve while hot.
