Read A Thai Restaurant Menu

Thai food has become one of the most popular cuisines in America. The menu in a Thai restaurant typically offers dozens of dishes. As in other Asian cuisines, the main entrees can be ordered with chicken, pork, beef or seafood. In addition, a Thai menu will have curry, noodle and rice dishes listed separately. Here's navigate your way around the menu.

Instructions

1. Start a Thai meal with an appetizer. Spring rolls are smaller than egg rolls and are wrapped in rice skins and deep fried. Fresh rolls are similar to spring rolls but are wrapped in thin rice paper and are not fried. Chicken Satay are grilled chicken strips marinated with coconut milk and curry powder and served with a peanut sauce.

2. Add a Thai soup to the meal. Tom Kha Gai is coconut milk soup with sliced chicken, mushroom, onion and bell pepper. This tasty soup is seasoned with galanga, lemongrass and lime. Tom Yum Goong is another classic Thai soup. Tom Yum Goong is a hot and sour shrimp soup. It has the same seasoning as Tom Kha.

3. Order a main course. First decide on the meat: Nua is beef; Mu is pork; Gai is chicken. Ginger Root (Pad Khing) is a great main dish. Chicken and Cashew (Pad Gai Mamuang Himmapan) is another outstanding choice.

4. Enjoy the most popular Thai dish in America--Pad Thai. This Thai noodle dish is ordered by nearly half of all customers in a Thai restaurant. This classic Thai dish uses salty, sweet and sour flavors to create a satisfying meal.

5. Try a Thai curry. Mussaman Curry (Gaeng Massaman) is made with Mussaman curry paste cooked in coconut milk with onion, potato and roasted peanut. Gaeng Daeng, or Red Curry, is a spicy dish made with coconut milk with sliced bamboo shoot, bok choy, cabbage, bell pepper and fresh basil leaves. Remember in any Thai restaurant you can order the spiciness of the food from Mild to Hot, which can be quite hot if it is authentic.

6. Have a Thai coffee to finish off the meal. Thai coffee is made fresh and strong. It is served with ground cardamom and sweetened condensed milk.
