Texas, one of the largest and most diverse states in terms of climate, terrain and vegetation, has an abundance of wine events. Wine tasting, wine education, beginner's classes and tours are littered throughout the state. With a range of prices and types of wine, Texas offers events for individuals, families and couples.
Wine and Cheese Bonanza 2011
Located in the luscious city of New Braunfels, the Wine and Cheese Bonanza 2011 will take place April 9-10 and offers a broad range of cheese and wine pairings. The event focuses on five specific types of cheeses and strictly Texas wines. The price of the event has yet to be determined and reservations are required for those who wish to attend.
Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival
One of the oldest and largest wine festivals in Texas, this Austin festival was founded in 1986 and features a variety of Texas flavors, foods, and wines. Taking place over the course of four days in April (date TBD), the festival has both formal black-tie events and casual events. Wine auctions, wine luncheons, cooking classes, wine tasting seminar and children;s activities make this an exciting event for the entire family.
Taste of Dallas
The largest free festival in Texas, the Taste of Dallas event features wine tasting from around the country. It also offers special food tasting from local chefs, live music, children's games, crafts and jewelry sales. The event takes place July 8-10 and is located in the beautiful Fair Park in central Dallas.
Grapes on the Brazos
Grapes on the Brazos offers a stylish and exciting new fall event with a variety of wines in a welcoming venue in Fort Bend County. Both first-time tasters and wine aficionados are welcome to this event. It takes place from September 24 to October 4. In addition, some of the proceeds help the youth of Fort Bend County with scholarships and other educational opportunities.
