Use Dandelion to Treat Gout
Gout is a painful form of arthritis that is caused when uric acid crystals deposit in a joint, causing it to swell. The swollen joint is then painful to touch or move. Dandelion is an herbal remedy that has been successful in treating gout and the conditions that cause it.
Instructions
1. Get properly diagnosed by a doctor. The only way to diagnose gout confidently is to aspirate some of the fluid in the affected joint and view it under a microscope. This is usually done to confirm a visual diagnosis.
2. Drink dandelion tea twice a day to keep the kidneys functioning properly. Poor kidney performance is a key contributor to gout, as it's the kidney's job to clear waste from the bloodstream. Dandelion stimulates the kidneys and helps flush urates from your system.
3. Use dandelion wine to avoid hypertension. Dandelion wine is essentially sweetened white wine infused with dandelion flowers. After curing for at least a couple of weeks, the wine becomes a healthful tonic that can help treat high blood pressure, another contributing factor to gout.
4. Eat dandelion leaves in salad or cooked in other dishes to get more vitamin C. Dandelion is full of vitamins and nutrients, and it's a great source of vitamin C, which has been shown to decrease uric acid. The less uric acid you have in your system, the fewer uric acid crystals in your joints.
5. Switch to dandelion coffee to treat gout. Regular coffee has purines in it that the body converts into uric acid. If you can't live without coffee, you can use roasted and ground dandelion leaves to make a coffee substitute.
