Cook A Southernstyle Meatloaf

Meatloaf is a common meal in southern homes. The combination of ground beef with seasonings shaped to look like a loaf of bread is a quick meal that busy moms serve their families and friends when time may be short for a large meal. The total time to prepare is less than 10 minutes. Add this with mashed potatoes and a vegetable, and you will have a true southern meal that your family will demand weekly.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

2. Combine 2 lbs. of ground beef (or ground chuck), two eggs, 1 cup of water and 1/3 cup of ketchup into a mixing bowl.

3. Crush one pack of saltine crackers and pour them into the mixing bowl.

4. Combine one pack of onion soup mix with the meatloaf mixture in the mixing bowl.

5. Mix all of the ingredients together. A wooden spoon may be strong enough to mix the ingredients; however, you can use your hands if you prefer.

6. Place the meatloaf mixture in a ungreased loaf pan. Shape the meatloaf to fill out all edges of the pan and to form a rounded shape at the top.

7. Rub ketchup over the top of the meatloaf. The thickness of the layer of ketchup should be based on your personal preference.

8. Put the loaf pan into the oven. You may choose to place the loaf pan inside a cake pan or on a baking sheet because the grease that the meatloaf produces may overflow and coat the bottom of your oven as well as the racks.

9. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Once done, remove and serve.
