Bake Chicken With Honey

Use good quality honey that you like eating for baking chicken.

Honey baked chicken is a versatile dish that can be served as an appetizer when sliced into segments and served in lettuce cups, chopped and used in cold salads or served as a main course with side dishes like roasted green beans, root vegetables or wild rice. Almost any cut of meat can be used, but economical pieces like thighs are most common for these types of recipes, though you can use breasts if you prefer leaner meat.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Lightly brush the bottom of a baking dish large enough to hold all of the chicken pieces without touching with a small amount of vegetable oil or olive oil.

3. Brush both sides of the chicken with olive oil or vegetable oil and sprinkle the pieces with sea salt or kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Place the chicken pieces in the baking dish.

4. Drizzle approximately 1 tsp. honey onto each piece of chicken and use a brush or the back of 1 tbsp. to evenly distribute the honey over the top of the meat.

5. Place the chicken pieces in the oven for one hour, checking them after 45 minutes.

6. Remove the meat from the oven and allow it to rest for five minutes before serving so the juice can redistribute through the meat. Transfer the chicken pieces to a large serving platter or individual plates and serve while hot.
