If you enjoy baking, you want the best possible equipment to turn out those tasty creations. Cakes, pies, casseroles and other baked foods can be even more delicious when baked in glass bakeware. Glass has several advantages, both in cooking and clean up.
Instructions
1. Buy glass bakeware when you want to have your baked goods come out evenly browned. Glass bakeware bakes more evenly than metal. Glass bakeware is also easier to clean. Look for glass bakeware that is labeled "dishwasher, freezer and microwave safe." Glass bakeware can be purchased individually or in boxed sets.
2. Know that when you want to buy glass bakeware, many stores have a good selection of the major name brands. Kitchen specialty shops have the most expensive brands, of course. Large discount department stores usually have a good selection of varying price ranges. Read packaging to make sure the glass bakeware is break resistant. Some brands will say "fully tempered." These usually are more durable and won't chip or break as easily.
3. Think about the fact that glass bakeware is non-porous and makes for healthier cooking. Most bakers like to have at least two pie pans on hand. When you buy glass cake pans, the square cake dish in an 8-inch size is a good choice. It's good to have at least two of these on hand also as baking desserts, especially at holiday times, usually requires more than one of the same size.
4. Purchase varying sizes of casserole dishes when you buy glass bakeware. It's a good idea to buy a 1-quart, 2-quart and 3-quart size at least. This way, you have a variety of sizes for different recipes when you bake a casserole or other type of recipe that requires baking.
