Make Chex Mix In A Microwave

Mixed nuts add crunch and flavor to Chex Mix.

General Mills manufactures Chex cereal, which is available in three variations -- corn, wheat or rice. The company's Chex Mix, which has been around for more than 50 years, is available in stores, or you can make it yourself at home. While you may prefer the baked version of Chex Mix, which takes over an hour to make, you can quickly prepare Chex Mix in your microwave, as long as you have a bowl large enough to hold the entire recipe.

Instructions

1. Mix 9 cups of Chex cereals in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Traditional Chex Mix contains 3 cups each of Corn Chex, Wheat Chex and Rice Chex, but you can select and combine whatever ratio you prefer, for a total of 9 cups.

2. Add 1 cup nuts, 1 cup pretzels and 1 cup bagel chips and mix well. You can either purchase bite-size pretzels and bagel chips or break larger pieces down to bite-size.

3. Melt 6 tbsp. butter in a small, microwave-safe bowl. Add 2 tbsp. Worchestershire sauce, 1 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt, 3/4 tsp. garlic powder and 1/2 tsp onion powder and stir to combine.

4. Pour the butter and spice mixture over the cereal mixture. Toss gently to coat.

5. Place the large bowl, uncovered, into the microwave. Cook on "High" for two minutes and stir. Cook for a total of six minutes, stirring at two-minute intervals.

6. Cover a flat surface, such as a countertop or table, with a layer of paper towels. Pour the microwaved Chex Mix onto the paper towels and spread out to cool.
